About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Shipping Clerk on behalf of our client based in Canning Town. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy manufacturing and distribution operation, playing a key role in coordinating product loading, logistics administration, and distribution activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring products are routed, loaded, documented, and dispatched accurately while supporting operational activities and maintaining compliance with quality, environmental, and health & safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the routing and loading of products in line with operational and production requirements.
- Complete all required distribution and delivery documentation accurately.
- Maintain internal business systems and logistics records.
- Liaise with third-party transport providers to ensure efficient loading and dispatch operations.
- Support out-of-hours distribution activities, including customer communications and order administration.
- Ensure all relevant shipment documentation is completed and issued correctly.
- Carry out quality, environmental, and compliance checks within the loading operation.
- Operate loading systems from both control room and field-based environments.
- Identify and troubleshoot operational issues, escalating to maintenance teams when required.
- Follow safe systems of work, including permit-to-work procedures and risk assessments.
- Work closely with internal departments to achieve service and delivery targets.
Requirements
- Previous experience within a distribution, logistics, warehouse, manufacturing, or process environment.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience using logistics or warehouse management systems (such as SAP or similar).
- Strong data entry and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Customer-focused with the ability to work to deadlines and service targets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good decision-making skills and a proactive approach to work.
Education
GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above.
