Our client, a global leader in energy management and automation, is seeking a dedicated Chemical Laboratory Technician to join their team in Eastfield.

About the Role:

As a Chemical Laboratory Technician, you will be a key component in the safe use of chemicals within our client's facility, playing a vital role in the safety and productivity of the factory process. The role offers a competitive salary of £27,000 - £35,000 per annum, dependant on your experience.

Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Chemical Process Control: Monitor and maintain chemical parameters for the powder coating pre-treatment process to ensure consistent coating performance and corrosion protection. Monitor and control chemical baths associated with the Tin-plating line to ensure compliance with process specifications and product requirements. Monitor and maintain chemical parameters for an automated chemical resin filling machine to ensure process stability. Carry out routine chemical additions and bath adjustments as required. Support investigation and resolution of process-related quality issues.
  • Laboratory Testing: Perform routine laboratory and process checks including: chemical concentration analysis, pH measurement, conductivity testing, temperature monitoring, chemical titrations, bath condition monitoring.
  • Quality Support: Accurately record, analyse and report test results. Identify process deviations and escalate concerns promptly. Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for quality defects. Assist with process capability and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with company required quality standards and procedures.
  • Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance: Follow all company health, safety and environmental requirements. Handle chemicals safely in accordance with COSHH regulations and site procedures. Maintain a clean, organised and safe laboratory environment. Support environmental compliance through proper chemical and waste management practices.
  • Continuous Learning and Development: Develop knowledge of additional quality inspection and testing methods. Support wider quality laboratory activities as required. Participate in training and continuous improvement programmes. Contribute to our client's culture of operational excellence and sustainability.

What We're Looking For - Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including Mathematics, English and Science.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, laboratory or chemical process environment.
  • Understanding of basic chemical testing techniques.
  • Ability to accurately follow procedures and maintain records.
  • Aware of safe chemical handling practices.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable:

  • Qualification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience of powder coating pre-treatment systems.
  • Experience of electroplating or Tin-plating processes.
  • Knowledge of chemical titration techniques.
