Product Controller** (Contract)
Duration: Up until 28 February 2027 (Possibility for extension)
Location: London/Hybrid (3 days per week on site)
Rate: A highly competitive Umbrella Day Rate is available for suitable candidates
Role Profile
This P&L Reporting role sits within the Product Control team and includes many responsibilities which overlap with the functions of the Financial Control team.
It is an important role in the Finance department as the principle face off to the Front Office traders for the daily P&L reporting of the Product Group which includes P&L reporting and financial control of multiple desks.
Key Accountabilities
- Daily P&L reporting for all products and services of the derivatives trading business , with focus on IRS, CCS and RPI Trades
- Daily reporting of XVA, marketing and remote booked PnL. Agree sign off with relevant desks
- Embed and understand enhanced PnL attribution reporting
- Own and enhance IPV process and reporting
- Drive to understand and resolve root causes of issues identified in core activity
- Weekly reporting of DP Ltd, a separate guarantee entity
- Enhance control framework and drive process change
- Generate and post GL journal entries for daily and month end close and cash breaks clearance
- Balance Sheet substantiation of GL balances
- Ensuring accurate classification of balances on the P&L account and Balance Sheet (e.g., third party and related party classification and reporting)
- Ensuring GL revenue balances agree to management and daily revenue reports
- Assist with Month, Quarter close processes and related reporting
- P&L commentary for derivatives business
- Develop subject-matter expertise to collaborate in bank-wide transformation initiatives
Skills & Experience
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of the securities business
- Understand differences between trade date/value date accounting and ideally a working knowledge of IFRS / JGAAP accounting differences
- Ability to understand end-to-end operating model and accounting process flows & implications
- Controls-first mindset, being the guardian of integrity of core financials and enhancing the control environment
- Knowledge of CVA, DVA and FVA. How they are calculated and factors that can influence their daily valuation
- Microsoft Excel to a very high level (e.g., macros, pivots, efficient data manipulation / processing, reconciliations)
- Managing self and others to pro-actively work through issues and coach and collaborate with other team members
- Ability to communicate and present technical / complex matters in an effective way to various audiences
