Our leading utilities client is seeking an experienced Procurement Lead - Major Infrastructure Projects to join its Major Projects team and play a key role in delivering some of the UK's most significant water infrastructure programmes.

We're looking for a procurement professional with experience supporting major capital projects, large-scale infrastructure programmes and complex delivery environments. Working across investment programmes valued in excess of £1.5 billion, you'll collaborate with regulators, investors, engineers, consultants and delivery partners to develop innovative procurement strategies that support the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects. The Role

As Procurement Lead, you will develop and execute procurement strategies across major capital programmes, supporting complex project delivery models and innovative financing structures, including Direct Procurement for Customers (DPC). You will work as part of highly technical, multi-disciplinary teams and engage with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure commercial and procurement activities support project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement strategy across major infrastructure and capital investment programmes.
  • Support the development and delivery of Direct Procurement for Customers (DPC) initiatives.
  • Design and implement procurement approaches for large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Lead market engagement activities and procurement events.
  • Develop strong relationships with investors, consortiums and delivery partners.
  • Work closely with engineering, scientific and project delivery teams.
  • Support governance processes, commercial strategy development and procurement decision-making.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align procurement activities with programme objectives.
  • Contribute to innovative delivery and financing approaches across major infrastructure investments.

You'll be working within a highly collaborative and technical environment involving various utilities organisations, industry regulators, investors and funding partners, engineering consultancies, infrastructure delivery organisations and strategic joint venture partners.

About You

We're looking for a procurement professional who has built their career within major project, infrastructure or capital delivery environments. You'll be comfortable operating within technically complex programmes, managing competing priorities and influencing senior stakeholders across large organisations. You will have a strong understanding of project-based procurement and be confident engaging with engineers, project directors, commercial teams and external partners.
