Are you an experienced Warehouse Manager looking for your next challenge? Our client is seeking a proactive and hands-on Warehouse & Shipping Manager to lead warehouse operations and oversee import/export shipping activities within a busy and growing organisation. This is an excellent temp-to-perm opportunity to join a well-established business where you will play a key role in driving operational efficiency, maintaining high service standards, and leading a dedicated warehouse team. The successful candidate will initially join on a temporary basis with the potential to secure a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the warehouse team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring operational targets are achieved.
  • Ensure all warehouse activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and safely.
  • Promote and maintain a clean, organised, and compliant warehouse environment.
  • Develop a flexible and effective team capable of meeting business demands.
  • Oversee stock control processes and maintain high levels of inventory accuracy.
  • Investigate and report stock discrepancies promptly.
  • Manage the receipt, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch of goods.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time.
  • Coordinate and oversee all import and export shipments.
  • Build strong relationships with freight providers to secure the best service and value.
  • Monitor shipping costs and verify freight invoices.
  • Maintain warehouse equipment and vehicles in line with service schedules.
  • Track, review, and improve team performance using KPIs.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide operational support and leadership when required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of 6 years' experience managing a fast-paced warehouse operation.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • A hands-on approach with the ability to lead from the front.
  • Excellent planning and organisational abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of stock control and warehouse best practices.
  • Basic understanding of import and export procedures.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • A positive, flexible, and solution-focused attitude.
  • Forklift Truck (FLT) certification or willingness to undertake training.

Desirable

  • Dangerous Goods certification.
  • Experience working with logistics, freight, or shipping providers.
