Overview
Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Police National Computer Systems Officer to join Devon & Cornwall Police on a 6 month temporary basis:
- 13.53 per hour
- Based at Devon & Cornwall HQ, in Middlemoor in Exeter
- Office based
- Monday - Friday, 37 hours per week
- The ideal candidate will have had previous experience working on the Police National Computer
Responsibilities
The principal responsibility is to create, update, amend and/or delete data on the Police National Computer (PNC), its replacement Law Enforcement Data Services (LEDS) and other selected IT systems in respect of persons, vehicles and property. In particular to:
- Assess and evaluate information, intelligence and action requests based on operational priorities in a timely manner. Ensuring a high level of data accuracy, legislative compliance, national and local policy compliance and proportionality, in line with service level agreements and statutory obligations.
- Providing specialist advice and knowledge on all PNC/LEDS matters (and associated IT systems) to colleagues within Devon and Cornwall, other forces and partner agencies in support of operational and organisational objectives, national and local policy and legislation.
In addition, there is a function intrinsic to this role. An employer\'s duty of care and current legislation allows the Force to establish if a potential applicant could carry this out, either with or without reasonable adjustments. This function is:
- Working with Disturbing Evidence of Disturbing Circumstances
- Working with Vulnerable People
- Working in Environment with potential for Conflict, Violence (verbal/Physical) etc.

Essential Skills
- An understanding of the different types of information held on the Police National Computer/Law Enforcement Data Services
- Ability to interrogate IT systems, identifying relevant details
- Proven attention to detail
- Proven ability to make effective decisions
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to listen attentively, clarify understanding, and write clearly, concisely and unambiguously effective negotiating and influencing skills, explaining the benefits operational tools available and their best use, as subject matter experts
- Proven ability to respond positively to regular changes in procedures and systems
- Demonstrably effective keyboard skills
- An awareness and / or experience of handling sensitive data
An awareness of the legislation determining use of the PNC/LEDS and other police systems
Please note: due to Police Criteria, you must have lived in the UK for at least the last 3 years continuously to apply for this role. Anything less will not be considered.
