Platform Modernisation Lead (Contract)
Duration: Up until 31 March 2026 (Possibility for extension)
Location: London/Hybrid (3 days per week on site)
Rate: A highly competitive Umbrella Day Rate is available for suitable candidates
Role Overview
As the Platform Modernisation Lead, you will take ownership of designing and implementing our hybrid multi-cloud container platform, ensuring it is production‑ready at scale. You will be a key player in the ITSD Architecture & Engineering organisation, responsible for integrating our platform with corporate governance processes, standards, and tooling. This role demands strong leadership and a strategic mindset as you define and embed our cloud operating model, aligning it with change and release management, observability, monitoring, alerting, and support processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of a hybrid multi‑cloud container platform across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
- Ensure seamless integration between the platform and corporate governance processes, standards, and tooling.
- Define and embed a robust cloud operating model that aligns with organisational change and release management.
- Develop observability, monitoring, and alerting strategies to ensure operational excellence.
- Maintain end‑to‑end accountability for platform production readiness, ensuring it meets enterprise standards.
- Support and enable the migration of legacy applications to the cloud, contributing to broader cloud adoption initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure operational readiness, resilience, and effective integration into live service support models.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in leading hybrid/multi‑cloud platform initiatives.
- Strong expertise in container technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift).
- Extensive knowledge of enterprise governance integration within a regulated environment, preferably in financial services.
- Demonstrated experience operating at a senior level, with a track record of successfully managing complex projects.
- Familiarity with production infrastructure support and production application support environments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
