Overview

Job Title: Home to School Travel Assistant

Location: Various – to schools attended by Children from within the City

Contract Details: Temporary, Part Time

Split Shift required for the role times are: 7am to 9am and 2pm to 4pm. You will need to be available for both shifts Monday to Friday. Term time only.

Salary: £12.85 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Safely accompany children with special educational needs to and from school.
  • Ensure children\’s welfare, discipline, and appropriate behaviour during transit.
  • Physically assist with lifting immobile and disabled children, including handling wheelchairs and car seats.
  • Liaise with vehicle drivers to coordinate transport arrangements.
  • Maintain accurate records of passengers and report any incidents or accidents.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and Travel Unit Officers.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience)

  • Current recognised Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience caring for children, particularly those with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with parents and school staff.
