Location: County Durham

Salary: Β£35,000 - Β£45,000 DOE + Overtime

Shifts: Various shift patterns available

Our client, a well-established and rapidly growing player in the manufacturing sector, is seeking a skilled CNC Miller to enhance their engineering team. If you are passionate about precision engineering and possess a strong background in CNC milling, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

The Role

As a CNC Miller, you will play a vital role in producing high-precision components from a variety of metal materials. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Programming, setting, and operating CNC machining centres.
  • Producing precision components according to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Creating and modifying CNC programmes for both new and existing products.
  • Setting tooling, work offsets, and machine parameters to ensure the highest quality output.
  • Conducting first-off and in-process inspections to guarantee tight tolerances are met.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving any machining or programme-related issues.
  • Actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives to optimise machine performance.
  • Adhering to health, safety, and quality procedures at all times.

Essential Requirements

To thrive in this role, candidates should possess:

  • An experienced CNC Miller or be an Apprentice-Trained Engineer.
  • Demonstrable experience in programming, setting, and operating CNC milling machines.
  • The ability to machine complex metal components to demanding tolerances.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with a variety of precision measuring equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • The capability to excel in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Desirable Attributes

While not essential, the following will enhance your application:

  • Experience with Fanuc, Heidenhain, or similar controls.
  • CAD/CAM programming experience.
  • Previous exposure to precision engineering manufacturing environments.
  • A background in machining various materials.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
