Working Hours: 39 hours per week
Pay Rate: £17.75 ph (£14.38 per hour + £3.37 shift allowance)
Our client is seeking a LAB Technician to support the Aycliffe Quality Control team on a short-term project. This is a site-based role requiring full shift commitment and offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on laboratory and quality experience within a regulated manufacturing environment.
The role involves quality testing of manufactured products, operating laboratory testing equipment, and ensuring all quality and safety standards are met.
Shift Pattern
This role operates on a 3-shift rotation:
- 6:00am - 2:00pm
- 2:00pm - 10:00pm
- 10:00pm - 6:00am
Candidates must be willing to work all shifts as part of the rotation. 5 days per week on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all site EHS policies and safety requirements
- Operate quality testing equipment and testing systems
- Perform quality testing on site and offsite manufactured products
- Control shipping release in line with quality standards and deadlines
- Rapidly communicate non-conformances to relevant manufacturing areas
- Accurately analyse, interpret, and record test data
- Complete reports and documentation to required standards
- Work independently where required and collaboratively as part of the Quality team
Essential:
- Previous quality, laboratory, or manufacturing environment experience
- Strong IT skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent attention to detail with strong data analysis capability
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage priorities
- Strong communication skills at all levels of the organisation
- Safety-conscious mindset and willingness to learn new tasks
Desirable:
- Quality department and shift-working experience
- Knowledge of SPC, SAP, DPQX, RSFs, and quality standards
- Familiarity with test equipment and laboratory systems
- Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement tools
- Experience with Outlook, e-Matrix, and SAP
- Report writing experience
- Mathematical competence

You will be detail-focused, safety-aware, and comfortable working either independently or as part of a team. You'll be able to follow procedures closely, take direction, and operate effectively in a shift-based laboratory environment.
