We are seeking a reliable and proactive Materials (Stores) & Yard Operative with Counterbalance Forklift (preferred) to join a well-established and reputable organisation. This is a hands-on, varied role supporting the smooth running of a busy yard and stores environment. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring materials, machinery, and stock are handled safely, efficiently, and in line with site procedures. Responsibilities

  • Unloading lorries and receiving deliveries
  • Checking in machinery and equipment on arrival
  • Operating a counterbalance forklift to move materials, parts, and machinery
  • Assisting with telehandler and plant movement where required
  • Managing stores, stock control, and organising materials efficiently
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised yard and depot
  • Supporting general yard duties and site housekeeping
  • Monitoring consumables and reporting requirements to the Supervisor
  • Managing waste disposal in line with site procedures
  • Ensuring health & safety standards are always followed
  • Acting as the "eyes and ears" of site safety, standards, and compliance
  • Supporting continuous improvement of yard and stores processes

Requirements

  • Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence (preferred)
  • Full UK Driving Licence (preferred)
  • Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, stores, or similar environment
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
  • Ability to handle materials, tools, and plant equipment safely and efficiently
  • Strong awareness of health & safety practices

Working Hours

Monday to Friday: 07:30 - 16:00 (negotiable). Occasional overtime as required.

Salary

Salary negotiable depending on experience.
