Our client is looking for a compassionate, motivated Tenancy Support Officer to join our team supporting asylum seekers and refugees to establish safe, stable, and independent lives within our communities.

As a Tenancy Support Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable individuals and families, helping them:

  • Maintain their tenancies
  • Develop independent living skills
  • Integrate into mainstream society

You'll manage a caseload of asylum seekers and refugees, delivering holistic, person-centred support and working closely with partners including the Home Office, housing providers, and community organisations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tenancy-related and practical support to asylum seekers and refugees in their own homes
  • Complete support assessments, develop holistic support plans, and carry out regular reviews
  • Support individuals and families with housing, benefits, health, employment, and English language access
  • Facilitate transitions from supported accommodation into independent living
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, external partners, and key stakeholders
  • Promote customer engagement, community involvement, and tenancy sustainment
  • Coach and empower clients to manage life skills such as rent, budgeting, health, and wellbeing
  • Contribute to homelessness prevention and wider council objectives

About You

We're looking for someone who is empathetic, resilient, and passionate about supporting vulnerable communities. You'll have:

  • A recognised Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience (plus around 2 years in a similar role)
  • Experience delivering homelessness prevention, resettlement, or housing-related support
  • Experience working with vulnerable customers, including those with complex needs
  • Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation and safeguarding frameworks
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills
  • The ability to work under pressure, manage a caseload, and prioritise effectively
  • Confidence working with partner agencies and multi-disciplinary teams

Essential:

  • Access to a car or the ability to travel across Trafford and Greater Manchester using public transport
