About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef to join our nursery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, balanced meals for children in line with dietary requirements and food safety standards. This role requires an Enhanced DBS check due to working within a childcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare healthy, age-appropriate meals and snacks for children.
- Cater for dietary needs, allergies, and cultural preferences.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety in accordance with Food Hygiene Regulations.
- Manage kitchen stock, ordering supplies as needed within budget.
- Ensure compliance with nursery policies and Ofsted requirements.
- Keep accurate records of menus, allergens, and food temperatures.
- Work collaboratively with nursery staff to support children's well-being.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Chef or Cook, ideally in a childcare or educational setting.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain before starting).
- Knowledge of Food Hygiene and Safety Regulations (Level 2 or 3 Food Hygiene Certificate preferred).
- Ability to plan menus that meet nutritional standards for early years.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
