Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sales & Trading Subject Matter Expert (SME) to play a key role in delivering this transformation. The successful candidate will combine strong front-office product knowledge with governance, regulatory, and control expertise, partnering closely with Trading, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and Technology teams. This role will be instrumental in driving enhancements to product approval, trading governance, booking controls, and operating model frameworks across a growing Sales & Trading organisation.

Business Context

The Sales & Trading division covers multiple asset classes including:

  • Credit Trading
  • Macro Rates
  • Foreign Exchange (FX)
  • Securities Finance
  • Risk Solutions

As the business continues to expand across EMEA, there is a need to strengthen governance frameworks, standardise processes, improve oversight, and ensure efficient controls around new products, trading activities, booking models, and algorithmic trading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Governance & Controls
    • Partner with Operational Risk and business stakeholders to enhance the Sales & Trading Product Approval Framework.
    • Support the design and implementation of governance standards, procedures, and controls aligned to enterprise policies.
    • Drive improvements to product approval processes, documentation standards, and governance artefacts.
    • Develop clear process maps, operating procedures, training materials, and governance documentation.
  • Trading Governance
    • Review and assess the product landscape, trader mandates, trading permissions, and venue governance frameworks.
    • Support the enhancement of Trader Mandate and Trading Venue policies, including associated controls and governance repositories.
    • Establish consistent standards for monitoring trading permissions and supervisory oversight.
  • Algorithmic Trading Governance
    • Work closely with Electronic Trading stakeholders to support enhancements to Algorithmic Trading governance frameworks.
    • Assess products and trading activities against applicable algorithmic trading definitions and requirements.
    • Support remediation activities where required and ensure evidence of policy compliance is effectively captured and maintained.
  • Booking Model Governance
    • Maintain and enhance booking model inventories and booking arrangement documentation.
    • Support the development of standards governing cross-border and remote booking activities.
    • Ensure booking controls remain aligned with regulatory expectations and internal governance requirements.
  • Data, MI & Reporting
    • Define and enhance management information (MI) and governance reporting capabilities.
    • Support development of dashboards and reporting frameworks to improve transparency and oversight.
    • Partner with Data Management teams to improve product taxonomy, governance data, and reporting consistency.
  • Regulatory & Change Management
    • Support audit and regulatory engagements by providing governance artefacts, evidence, and reporting.
    • Assist with regulatory remediation programmes and control enhancement initiatives.
    • Help develop an overarching change governance framework to manage product and business change activities across Sales & Trading.
  • Product & System Lineage
    • Map approved products across front-to-back workflows, systems, and downstream processes.
    • Improve visibility of product lifecycle management and associated governance controls.

Required Experience

Essential

  • Deep understanding of Sales & Trading products and front-to-back trade lifecycle processes.
  • Strong experience within investment banking, capital markets, or global markets environments.
  • Proven background in product governance, risk management, regulatory implementation, or control frameworks.
  • Experience working with Front Office, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and Technology stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical business processes and controls.
  • Strong process mapping, requirements gathering, and documentation skills.
  • Experience delivering governance or regulatory change initiatives within a trading environment.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of booking models, cross-border trading controls, and supervisory frameworks.
  • Experience with control design, RCSA, control testing, audit remediation, or non-financial risk programmes.
  • Understanding of algorithmic trading governance and related regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with data governance, reporting, dashboards, and management information frameworks.
  • E-trading experience is a huge plus.
