My client is one of the largest financial institutions headquartered in Japan, with an established presence across all consumer and corporate banking businesses. Through its subsidiaries and affiliates, they offer a diverse range of financial services, including commercial banking, leasing, securities, credit card, consumer finance and other services.

They are looking for a Project Manager with experience of Cash Management Systems to join the team on an initial 6 month contract with the potential to extend. The role is hybrid working being in the office 2-3 days a week with the remainder of time working from home.

Purpose of Job

Provide strong project management leadership for the EMEA delivery of the New Cash Management System (CMS), a strategically critical initiative within the organisations EMEA Transaction Banking (TB) programme. Accountable for driving delivery of EMEA business outcomes while core system development is delivered by the organisation and consultancy teams based in the US. Ensure successful coordination between EMEA stakeholders and US based development teams to deliver a modern, scalable cash management platform aligned to programme objectives. Deliver agreed change benefits across the organisation EMEA regions to the required quality standards, within agreed timelines and budgets. Ensure all project activity is conducted with appropriate governance, transparency, and oversight, with decisions and progress robustly documented to withstand audit scrutiny.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Lead EMEA delivery of the New Cash Management System (CMS) within the Transaction Banking (TB) programme, driving execution from discovery through implementation and BAU handover.
  • Accountable for managing delivery in line with the organisations EMEA Project Management Methodology, demonstrating ownership, sound judgement, and alignment with programme objectives.
  • Ensure delivery outcomes meet organisation standards and reflect industry best practice in transaction banking.
  • Act as the primary bridge between EMEA stakeholders and US-based PMO and development teams, ensuring:
    • Clear articulation of EMEA requirements and priorities,
    • Alignment on delivery scope, timelines, and dependencies,
    • Collaboration with EMEA IT team to ensure adherence to IT governance and management of dependencies in the wider IT ecosystem,
    • Effective management of risks arising from cross regional delivery.
  • Drive cross-functional coordination across workstreams and stakeholder groups to maintain cohesive delivery aligned with strategic milestones.
  • Demonstrate strong cultural awareness and leadership when operating across geographies, time zones, and organisational boundaries.
  • Apply Agile and hybrid delivery methodologies, actively educating and influencing stakeholders to support adoption, while balancing iterative execution with appropriate programme governance and controls.
  • Recognise and adapt rapidly to change, documenting impacts and ensuring timely communication across impacted areas.
  • Maintain appropriate governance and transparency to ensure effective oversight at programme and senior stakeholder level.
  • Provide oversight and reporting across:
    • Financial planning, forecasting, and cost control,
    • Resource and capacity planning across internal and external teams,
    • Risk, issue, and dependency management,
    • Delivery artefacts, status reporting, and executive updates.
  • Ensure alignment with approved scope, budget, timelines and programme objectives.
  • Lead and manage diverse EMEA project teams, engaging decision makers and SMEs across functions to build alignment and deliver required outcomes.
  • Recognise and adapt to ongoing internal and external change:
    • Assess business and delivery impacts,
    • Formulate mitigation plans,
    • Ensure updates are communicated and implemented across affected areas.
  • Maintain a strong focus on benefits realisation, ensuring outcomes support the Transaction Banking strategic roadmap and long-term business objectives.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Educated to degree level (or equivalent), or able to demonstrate significant Transaction Banking expertise and experience delivering complex projects within financial services. Ideally experience in Cash Management and/or client-facing system implementation within a regulated banking environment. Industry‐recognised project management qualification (e.g. PMP, APM, PRINCE2) and Agile delivery certifications (e.g. Scrum, SAFe, AgilePM) desirable.

Experience & Knowledge

Strong knowledge and experience within financial services, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex, cross-regional projects in regulated environments. Practical experience applying Agile / hybrid delivery approaches, managing or coordinating multiple delivery teams across business and technology functions. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to:

  • Set and communicate a delivery vision, leading and motivating project teams to successful outcomes,
  • Work effectively with senior stakeholders to gain alignment and buy‐in,
  • Anticipate, manage, and resolve conflict across teams and stakeholders,
  • Negotiate priorities, balance competing demands, and drive benefits delivery.

Strong, effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide constructive challenge with professionalism and diplomacy. Hands‐on and pragmatic delivery approach, willing to become involved in detailed tasks where required to ensure objectives are met. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work to tight deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure.
