About the Role

As a Market Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of Barking Market and various special events. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Daily Operations: Oversee the orderly, clean, and safe running of the market in line with Council Policy.
  • Market Setup: Assist in setting up and shutting down the market, ensuring space allocation is managed effectively.
  • Financial Management: Collect daily/weekly rent from traders, reconcile payments, and prepare monthly invoices.
  • Customer Engagement: Foster good relationships with stallholders and customers, promoting market events and handling inquiries.
  • Safety Compliance: Monitor market conditions to ensure safety regulations are upheld, addressing any hazards or breaches promptly.
  • Licencing: Issue licences to casual traders, ensuring compliance with policies and managing competing demands for pitches.

Key Requirements
