A busy cold store and logistics operation in Wrexham is seeking a highly experienced and agile Manager of Operations to take ownership of onsite performance. This role requires a committed, driven, and confident leader who can guide teams effectively and maintain high operational standards. Ideal for someone operating at Shift Manager level or above, with a strong understanding of warehouse flow and cold storage environments.
Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Manage and support Cold Store Operators across 4 shift patterns; lead by example with strong presence, accountability, and consistency; act as the main operational lead in the absence of senior site management; work flexibly across all areas of the operation, including hands-on bay work when required (Counterbalance/Reach Truck licences advantageous).
- Customer Experience: Work closely with Customer Service and Administration teams; provide flexible, solutions-focused support to customers; handle issues and complaints professionally and efficiently; attend customer meetings and performance reviews; build and maintain strong customer relationships; represent the business with confidence when required.
- Quality, Safety & Culture: Maintain and promote exceptional health & safety standards; drive a "quality first" culture across all shifts; support LEAN and continuous improvement projects; ensure full compliance with food safety, temperature control, and high-bay operational processes.
- Operational Expertise: Strong logistics background; cold store experience highly beneficial; understanding of blast freezing, crystallisation, and food safety standards; familiarity with high-bay automation and production flows; ability to balance hands-on operational involvement with strategic leadership.
- People Management: Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of staff; manage day-to-day people matters including performance, absence, and welfare; encourage progression, strong cultural values, and operational discipline; collaborate with other managers as a dependable senior figure.
- Systems & Reporting: Competent with Microsoft Office and warehouse management systems; provide accurate reporting and operational updates to senior management; contribute to wider projects and site improvement initiatives.
