Role Profile
The ER Manager will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all Employee Relations matters, working closely with HR Business Partners and management to ensure that all ER cases, including potential cases, are managed fairly, consistently, and in compliance with applicable employment legislation. In addition, the role is responsible for overseeing HR policies and procedures and for managing HR Operations activities closely aligned with Employee Relations, in line with the size and complexity of the Company's workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary SME for all ER matters, providing timely, practical, and risk-balanced advice to HR and management
- Lead and conduct ER investigations where required, including preparation of documentation, coordination of meetings/hearings, briefing managers, employee consultations, and maintaining accurate records
- Work closely with external Legal Counsel to minimise legal risk
- Maintain a central ER case tracker/register and ensure accurate, timely ER reporting
- Design, coordinate, and deliver Employee Relations-related training for employees and managers to support consistent and compliant people management practices
- Lead the review, maintenance, and update of HR policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with Group Bank requirements and applicability to the Company
- Provide guidance and interpretation of policies to HR and managers to ensure consistent application
- Advise line managers on employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions, performance management, and conflict resolution
- Analyse trends in employee issues and provide recommendations to senior management for improvement
- Leading or co-working with other Stakeholders (Internal and External) for the successful and effective delivery of Projects
- Updating of assigned Admin Group related documentation and policies
- Working on the other tasks based on business needs as listed in the Admin Group detailed task list
Skills & Experience:
- Comprehensive understanding and application of employment laws, regulations including diversity and inclusion programmes
- A strong understanding of HR Procedures and Processes
- Keeps a thorough understanding of internal and external regulatory provisions
- Experience of managing a range of complex and sensitive ER cases to resolution in the UK
- Policy experience, or a demonstrable interest in policy development, is also required
- Previous experience in a HR environment, with focus on employee relations
- Experience in delivering training
- Collaborative style of working with Head office and with Group Companies
- Ability to listen and understand the needs of the employees, together with those of the business
- Possess strong influencing, negotiation and communication skills, experience dealing with multiple stakeholders in a complex structure
- Business Degree
- CIPD qualification (to at least part Qualified)
