Are you ready to lead transformations change in housing and communities? Our client is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Housing Environment and Communities to drive excellence in service delivery and community engagement.

Purpose of the Role

The Director will spearhead the Housing Environment and Communities service, ensuring the effective management of the Council's asset portfolio while delivering outstanding value and services for residents. You will shape a strategic vision that aligns with the Council's growth agenda, enhancing public engagement and fostering civic pride.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive business plan for Housing Environment and Communities. Ensure operational service delivery meets high standards and remains financially sustainable. Challenge existing processes to create lean, efficient services.
  • Landlord and Customer Management: Provide strategic direction for professional landlord services across commercial and residential properties. Maximise income through timely rent collection and effective tenancy management.
  • Property and Contract Management: Oversee asset management and lead the development of a lifecycle asset strategy. Manage procurement and contract relationships with service providers to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Business Development: Identify and develop new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with clients and partners. Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and implement policy changes effectively.
  • Public Realm Services: Lead the delivery of high-quality public services, including parks and waste management, ensuring they meet customer needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Substantial executive-level management experience in a large organisation.
  • Recognised professional qualification (e.g., RICS, RIBA).
