Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Control Office Technical Director to join their Operations Planning Department/EMEA Control Office team. What You'll Be Doing:

  • Developing Approaches: Crafting strategies for 'Read Across' and 'Lessons Learned' to ensure consistency across the organisation.
  • Technical Support: Leading projects with technical control requirements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Monitoring Risk Culture: Implementing methods to assess and improve risk culture within the organisation.

Your Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee risk owners and control owners to ensure effective risk management.
  • Ensure robust governance of risk and controls, providing insightful data and contributing to governance meetings.
  • Conduct independent analysis of the risk and control environment, identifying trends and weaknesses.
  • Drive investigations of operational events to identify root causes and implement preventive solutions.
  • Conduct deep dives into risk reviews to assess control frameworks and enhance remediation efforts.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement risk policies and frameworks effectively.
  • Mentor junior control officers to cultivate their skills in risk management.

What We're Looking For:

  • Risk Management Expertise: Extensive knowledge of risk management frameworks and control environments.
  • Business Acumen: Deep understanding of Commercial and Investment Banking products and their end-to-end processes.
  • Market Awareness: Familiarity with market-standard risk mitigation approaches and relevant regulations in EMEA.
  • Stakeholder Skills: Proven ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to convey complex topics clearly.

Specific Requirements:

  • Experience: Significant experience in a 1LOD, risk management, or control office function within a major financial institution.
  • Education: A degree in a relevant discipline (finance, accounting, mathematics, physics, engineering) with strong analytical skills.
  • Industry Knowledge: Broad knowledge of Commercial Banking and Investment Banking.
