Overview
We are recruiting a Nightshift Doffing Operative to join a well-established manufacturing site in Kirriemuir. This is a hands-on shop-floor role focused on the safe removal, handling and movement of finished product rolls from the production process. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, physical work, takes pride in maintaining safety and organisation, and can work reliably through nightshift hours. Full training will be provided, and while forklift experience would be beneficial, it is not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Doffing and Product Handling: You will be responsible for removing completed rolls from the production line and preparing them for the next stage of the process. This includes safe handling, positioning and transfer of finished products.
- Movement of Finished Rolls: You will move finished rolls to designated storage or dispatch areas, either manually or using handling equipment where trained. A forklift may be used by authorised operators, but this is not a requirement for the role.
- Supporting Shop Floor Operations: You will work closely with the production team to ensure smooth workflow and minimal downtime, responding to instructions and supporting overall nightshift output.
- Quality Awareness: You will carry out basic visual checks on finished rolls, reporting any visible defects, damage or irregularities to the relevant team member or supervisor.
- Housekeeping and Organisation: You will help maintain a clean, tidy and well-organised shop floor, ensuring walkways, storage areas and workspaces are kept safe and accessible.
- Health and Safety Compliance: You will follow all site health and safety procedures, use PPE correctly, and work in line with manual handling guidelines to ensure a safe working environment at all times.
