Are you an organised, welcoming, and professional individual looking to make a real difference in an educational setting? We are seeking a School Receptionist to join a dedicated Alternative Provision school that supports students who thrive in a more personalised, nurturing environment.
As the first point of contact for students, staff, parents, and visitors, you will play a vital role in creating a calm, supportive, and well-organised front-of-house experience.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the school reception area, greeting visitors and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed
- Handle incoming calls, emails, and enquiries with professionalism and clarity
- Support administrative tasks including attendance, student records, and correspondence
- Liaise with staff, parents/carers, and outside agencies
- Assist with daily operations, maintaining confidentiality and compliance at all times
- Provide calm, reassuring communication to students who may require additional emotional or behavioural support
- Previous reception or administrative experience (school environment desirable)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks
- Confident using Microsoft Office and school management systems (training can be provided)
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in a busy environment
- Empathy and resilience when working with students who may have additional needs or behavioural challenges
- Enhanced DBS check (required)
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
- Positive, approachable, and proactive attitude
