Infrastructure Operative

Location: Uxbridge

Salary: £14.36 PH

Duration: ASAP – 6 months (ongoing assignment)

Adecco are currently recruiting for a Infrastructure Operative to join a prestigious university based in Uxbridge.

Main Accountabilities

  • To be part of a team of Infrastructure Operatives responsible for providing general support across a variety of trades as part of a high-quality, professional and customer-focused maintenance service to the University and its stakeholders outside of normal core hours.
  • To carry out reactive and planned maintenance tasks to support the University\’s physical infrastructure.
  • To work with and support colleagues across the University in order to carry out work effectively and efficiently.
  • To accept supervision and task setting from the Infrastructure Delivery Managers and Infrastructure Technicians and work under own initiative to ensure completion of tasks and objectives.
  • Key Duties and Responsibilities

    General

  • To carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a range of building services and systems and undertake checks and testing in accordance with relevant legislation and keep appropriate records.
  • To ensure that low stock levels of general materials are reported in a timely manner to ensure no loss of continuity in providing an efficient service.
  • To assist with minor installation works and to assist contractors and other trades as and when required and as directed.
  • Working with other trades to perform routine maintenance as and when required. This may involve working at height, manual handling, the removal of rubbish and similar waste and moving of furniture.
  • To assist with diagnosing and rectify faults on a range of domestic and industrial building services, plant and controls.
  • To carry out such other duties as may be required, which may include painting, decorating, tiling, plastering and making good, basic electrical duties including lamp changes, basic plumbing duties including clearing blockages, some carpentry and roofing, as directed.
  • To both gain a working knowledge and utilise any relevant IT systems.
  • To ensure that all equipment for which the post-holder has responsibility is securely stored and properly used and maintained.
  • To use powered hand tools and workshop machinery where individual qualifications and competencies permit.
  • To assist in compliance with the current health and safety legislation and work in a safe manner and co-operate with any health and safety directives.
  • Work as part of a team engaged in the maintenance of the University estate and have the ability to work flexibly, use initiative and both confidently and constructively contribute to the development of the team\’s working practices.
  • To work and operate using the CAFM system and associated communication devices to ensure the work is actioned and resolved in a smart and efficient manner, using the system to record relevant information for customer and other management purposes.
  • To be able to access manufacturers and supplier\’s technical information and data from external sources.
  • To carry and interact with mobile devices issued to support delivery of the role (training provided where necessary).
  • Consult RAMS, Asbestos Registers, COSHH and other relevant information as required and to always work in a safe manner and co-operate with any health and safety directives.
  • Undertake and document dynamic risk assessments prior to commencement of any tasks.
  • To be able to work from stepladders, access towers, scaffolding and mobile towers at height and within confined spaces.
  • To prioritise your own work load effectively.
  • To attend training courses.
  • To be responsible for any keys issued to you for the purpose of the maintenance task.
  • To display a valid University identification badge when on campus.
