Adecco Engineering have openings with our client for Lead (and Senior) Mechanical Design Engineers to join their organisation based in Hull on a permanent basis. Hybrid working will also be considered. Due to new contract awards, you will be supporting various projects with regards to the detailed design phase and will have similar experience gained within the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.

The Lead Mechanical Engineer will report directly to the MD and will be responsible for the provision of technical services such as the delivery of the agreed project scopes; support and direct mechanical engineers and designers by managing and growing the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical services relating to the Mechanical Engineering elements of project scopes; special focus on design, FEED, and EPCm scope preparation and execution, design/safety reviews, specification and procurement of equipment and materials, vendor selection and timely resolution of technical and engineering issues.
  • Act as technical expert in Mechanical Engineering and the final technical approval authority.
  • Lead the Mechanical Engineering team, developing design scope and ensuring that all related deliverables are in compliance with the applicable codes, standards, etc.
  • Coordinate Mechanical Engineering interfaces between the project phases.
  • Establish professional working relationships, support technical queries/interpretation of scope, specifications and standards.
  • Identify resourcing issues/gaps ensuring that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and schedule.

Candidate Skills/Experience/Education:

  • BSc/MSc. or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered Mechanical Engineer Status preferred.
  • Experience in Mechanical Engineering design in the oil and gas, petro-chemical or chemical industries.
  • Significant Lead Mechanical Engineer experience within engineering consultancy, EPIC contractor or client organisation.
  • Package Engineering (rotating and/or static equipment) desirable.
  • Team lead/Management Experience.
  • Familiar with international design codes and standards.
  • Experienced in ASME codes, API codes, European EN codes.
  • Experienced in mechanical/piping fabrication, steel structures and mechanical-civil interface.
  • Experienced in 3D design and modelling methods used within the discipline.
