The Opportunity

We are working with a local authority seeking an experienced Housing Lawyer to join their Legal Services team on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity to handle a diverse and high-profile caseload, advising on complex housing law matters and supporting key council functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide highly technical and specialist legal advice across housing law, including homelessness, community safety, judicial review, inquests, and inquiries.
  • Conduct both straightforward and complex proceedings, including evaluation of evidence, case preparation, strategic case management, and advocacy where required.
  • Advise clients on legal risks and potential challenges, including judicial review, and provide mitigation strategies.
  • Represent the council in court, tribunals, and key stakeholder meetings.
  • Manage a busy caseload independently, ensuring deadlines and service standards are met.
