An exciting opportunity has arisen for a junior buyer to provide support to operations for supply base development and total cost improvement.

Our client has a reputation for producing high quality machines through engineering excellence, therefore, it is crucial for this role to ensure that the highest standards of supply, cost and quality are maintained at all times.

  • Main Responsibilities
  • Raise and manage purchase orders in accordance with business requirements and purchasing procedures.
  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations, order acknowledgements, and delivery updates.
  • Expedite orders and proactively follow up on overdue deliveries to support production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and support stock replenishment activities to maintain material availability.
  • Assist with sourcing activities, including identifying and evaluating potential new suppliers.
  • Support the management of supplier performance by monitoring delivery and service KPIs.
  • Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, and purchasing data within the ERP/MRP system.
  • Investigate and resolve purchase order, invoice, and goods receipt discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with Production, Planning, Engineering, Stores, and other internal departments to ensure material availability and effective supply chain performance.
  • Produce and maintain purchasing and supply chain reports as required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing and supply chain functions.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with suppliers to ensure effective communication and service levels.
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Purchasing and Supply Chain team. Critical Skills and Personal Attributes

Education and Experience

  • Experience in a Purchasing role with some buying responsibilities in an organization managing a global supply base
  • Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers on a global basis
  • Deals with supplier invoice queries, investigates discrepancies and resolves issues
  • Works with team to ensure that parts are of the agreed quality and highlights any issues
  • Good standard of general education, particularly in English and Maths
  • Computer literate and confident in using Microsoft applications on a daily basis

Desirable

  • Experience of buying for an engineering department would be an advantage
  • CIP's qualified, or is working towards qualification
  • Experience of using an ERP system such as SAP or equivalent
  • Ability to read technical drawings
