We’re working with a forward-thinking engineering business operating at the forefront of electrical solutions, now looking to appoint a Health & Safety Specialist to join their team on a 12-16 month contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping and strengthening a proactive safety culture within a technically advanced, electrically focused environment. You'll partner closely with senior leadership and operational teams to ensure best-in-class standards across all activities.
The Opportunity
As Health & Safety Specialist, you'll take ownership of developing and embedding robust safety processes, with a strong emphasis on electrical safety standards - a core part of the business. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring the working environment remains safe, compliant, and aligned with both regulatory requirements and industry best practice, while actively driving continuous improvement across all HSE activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and continuously improve Health & Safety processes and standards across the business
- Lead the delivery of high standards in electrical safety, ensuring compliance across all engineering operations
- Support the Senior Management Team and QHSE function in maintaining a safe and compliant workplace
- Proactively identify risks, compliance gaps and improvement opportunities, implementing practical solutions
- Assist in the creation, review and rollout of H&S policies, ensuring consistency across all departments
- Facilitate Health & Safety meetings, initiatives and engagement programmes
- Produce and manage risk assessments, safe systems of work, and control measures
- Contribute to the strategic direction of HSE, supporting business-wide initiatives and improvement plans
- Monitor and interpret current and upcoming legislation, ensuring the business remains compliant
- Investigate accidents and incidents thoroughly, implementing preventative measures
- Carry out regular audits and site inspections, driving a culture of continuous improvement
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure engineers and contractors receive appropriate instruction, supervision and training
- Support the delivery of a structured H&S training programme
- Coordinate the provision, management, and certification of PPE
- Manage regulatory inspections and visits, liaising effectively across maintenance and engineering teams
About You
You’re a proactive, solutions-focused HSE professional who thrives in an engineering-led environment and understands the critical importance of electrical safety.
You’ll Bring
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) - essential or working towards
- Strong HSE experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- IOSH training (or equivalent professional development)
- Solid knowledge of current H&S legislation, standards and risk management practices
- Experience developing and delivering safety programmes and initiatives
- Understanding of workplace wellbeing and its impact on performance and culture
Additionally, you will be:
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Approachable, pragmatic, and confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels
- A natural collaborator with strong communication and interpersonal skills
