Our client Surrey Police are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced professional to join their team as the Head of Governance, Risk and Assurance. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the organisation and ensure accountability, transparency, and public trust!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive Risk Management: Own and maintain the organisation's risk management framework, ensuring consistent identification and management of risks.
  • Enhance Governance and Assurance: Design effective governance arrangements, overseeing assurance mapping and internal/external activities.
  • Lead Inspections and Compliance: Act as the lead for HMICFRS inspections, managing evidence and tracking actions to ensure compliance.
  • Foster Organisational Learning: Promote a culture of learning from audits and incidents, embedding improvements throughout the organisation.
  • Provide Strategic Advice: Offer authoritative advice to senior leaders on governance and risk, promoting informed decision-making.

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualifications: A graduate qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, plus professional accreditation in risk management, governance, audit, or assurance.
  • Experience: Significant experience in a senior governance or risk role within policing or a similarly regulated public sector organisation.
  • Skills: Advanced analytical skills, exceptional communication abilities, and strong professional judgement to influence and drive positive change.
