Are you an experienced Fire Surveyor with strong knowledge of fire safety regulations, compliance standards, and risk assessment frameworks? We are supporting a leading housing provider seeking a specialist to deliver high-quality Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Door inspections, and compliance oversight across communal and residential buildings. This is an excellent opportunity for a technical fire professional looking to make a meaningful impact on safety, regulatory compliance, and building quality.
Pay rates: £40- £50/h
Duration: 3 months
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive Fire Risk Assessments (FRA), ensuring compliance with PAS 79, BS 9999, PAS 9980, and relevant sector guidance.
- Inspect fire doors, communal areas, and compartmentation to identify risks and recommend remedial actions.
- Assess buildings against statutory requirements such as RR(FS)O 2005, CDM Regulations 2015, and the Fire Safety Act.
- Produce clear, detailed technical reports and compliance recommendations.
- Support organisational fire safety strategies and work collaboratively with asset, compliance, and repairs teams.
Essential Skills & Experience
- You must demonstrate strong working knowledge of:
- Construction sector, building regulations, and CDM 2015.
- BS 9999, PAS 79, PAS 9980, and NFCC/ADB guidance.
- Fire Safety Act, FS(Eng) Regs, and responsibilities relating to communal areas, compartmentation, and building safety.
- Asbestos awareness, housing regulator compliance, and fire risk management principles.
Ideal/Highly Desirable
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
- Recognised project management qualification (eg, Prince2).
- Understanding of:
- JCT contracts
- Construction methodologies
- Fire risk within social housing environments
Desirable Additional Knowledge
- Experience with fire safety systems, including (but not limited to):
- Fire alarms
- Emergency lighting
- Automatic Opening Vents (AOVs)
- Sprinkler systems
