Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Contract Type: Temporary (full time - ongoing)
Pay: 105-115 per day + Holiday Pay + Benefits

Are you an experienced and confident HLTA who thrives in a dynamic, relationship-led environment? Do you have the resilience, flexibility and passion to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs? Adecco Romford & London East are seeking dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistants to play a pivotal role in supporting pupils' learning, wellbeing and positive development across a specialist setting. As a HLTA, you will be a key part of the team, delivering high-quality support across the school. You'll take the lead in classrooms when required and deliver targeted interventions that make a meaningful difference to pupils' academic and emotional progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned lessons and provide class cover during PPA time and short-term teacher absence
- Lead targeted interventions (1:1 and small groups), including catch-up, overlearning and bespoke support programmes
- Work flexibly across classes and provision areas in response to pupil and staffing needs
- Adapt learning activities to meet diverse needs, including SEMH and SEND
- Monitor, record and report on pupil progress, engagement and outcomes
- Contribute to a calm, structured and nurturing learning environment
- Support pupils to self-regulate, engage and develop independence
- Implement consistent behaviour and de-escalation strategies aligned with school practice
- Work collaboratively with staff, families and external professionals to ensure joined-up support
What We're Looking For
- HLTA qualification (or equivalent experience) with proven ability to lead learning
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND or complex needs
- Confidence in leading whole-class learning and interventions
- Strong understanding of how behaviour, relationships and emotional regulation impact learning
- A calm, resilient and adaptable approach in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills
- A genuine commitment to making a difference every day
