Join Our Team as an Environmental Health Officer! Are you passionate about making a difference in public health and housing standards? Our client is looking for a dedicated Environmental Health Officer to join their dynamic team on a temporary-to-permanent basis. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and is eager to contribute to community wellbeing. Key Responsibilities: Management & Supervision: Share responsibility for the functional management of enforcement officers. Train and supervise students, trainees, agency staff, and new recruits while overseeing external contractors. Inspections & licencing: Conduct thorough inspections of private sector dwellings, including houses in multiple occupation (HMOs). Follow licencing procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standards. Legal Action: Take necessary legal action against landlords who fail to meet their obligations, including potential financial penalties or prosecutions. Advisory Role: Provide expert advice to owners, tenants, surveyors, and managing agents regarding private sector housing regulations. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records and documentation, ensuring all actions are compliant with established procedures. What We\’re Looking For: A proactive individual with excellent decision-making skills in housing policy. Strong management abilities and experience in training and supervising staff. Solid communication skills to interact effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including tenants, property agents, and contractors. Familiarity with financial assessments in enforcement to understand the implications of enforcement actions. A valid driver\’s licence and willingness to travel for work.
