We are supporting our client in hiring several Investigators to join their team. Our client is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that resolves any financial disputes which a business and a consumer have been unable to solve themselves. They make decisions that feel fair to both sides and if they decide someone has been treated unfairly, they have the legal powers to put things right.

The complaints our client deals with vary. A customer might be having trouble with their bank account, struggling with payday loans, think an insurance payout isn’t fair, or be worried about their mortgage.

You will be responsible for:

  • Investigating complaints about either Insurance, Pensions, Mortgages or Investment products.
  • Managing your caseload effectively to reach targets.
  • Managing relationships with our customers - both consumers and financial businesses.
  • Examining evidence to get to the heart of each complaint.
  • Weighing up all sides of a story and assessing the relevant rules and regulations to make fair and reasonable decisions.
  • Communicating with empathy - listening carefully to both sides, asking the right questions and using sound judgement.
  • Communicating your findings clearly, explaining what you think and why through a clear and structured written response.

Location: Remote working, 1 day every 8 weeks working from an office in Edinburgh.

Hours: We have both full time (35 hours per week) and part time (28 hours per week) roles available. You will have the flexibility to agree a working pattern with your manager, covering the 'core part' of the day - such as 9am - 5pm, 8am - 4pm or 10am - 6pm.

Salary: £31,000 pa + excellent benefits, including but not limited to:

  • An cash allowance which can be used to increase the cover on core benefits or be added directly to your salary.
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays and the option to buy extra or sell days.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • Non-contributory pension (up to 12% of your salary).

Contract type: 18 month FTC.
