Hourly Rate: £28.60 PAYE / £38.19 Umbrella

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Deputy Business Support Manager to join our Children's Services team in Ealing. This is a key leadership position that plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality business support across multiple teams within a fast-paced and constantly evolving service area. You will support the Business Support Manager and Operations Manager in the day-to-day running of frontline services, providing stability, direction, and operational oversight. The role requires a hands-on approach, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining an excellent standard of service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Operational Management
    • Provide daily supervision and leadership to a team of approximately eight staff.
    • Support several teams with varying operational needs, ensuring resilience and continuous service delivery.
    • Confidently guide staff through high-pressure situations, fluctuating workloads, and organisational change.
    • Work closely with three existing Deputy Managers, providing cross-cover where necessary.
  • Facilities & Site Management
    • Potential responsibility for two operational sites, ensuring effective day-to-day building management.
    • Maintain safe, compliant, and efficient working environments, adhering to Council policies and procedures.
    • Respond to emergencies, building issues, and operational challenges as they arise.
  • Business Support, Finance & Administration
    • Oversee administrative processes, financial tasks, and ICT functions supporting Children's Services.
    • Manage social care payments and handle month-end reconciliation accurately and efficiently.
    • Navigate financial workflows, auditing requirements, and administrative procedures confidently.
    • Ensure compliance with GDPR, Health & Safety standards, audit regulations, and local authority requirements.
  • Service Improvement & Deputy Duties
    • Deputise for the Business Support Manager when required.
    • Support service development initiatives, improving processes, efficiency, and overall service quality.
    • Work collaboratively with managers, practitioners, and external partners to support effective service delivery.

About You

We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate:

  • Strong experience in business support management, ideally within Children's Services or a similar public-sector setting.
  • Proven ability to lead teams effectively in a high-demand, fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with financial processes, including social care payments and reconciliation.
  • Confidence working across multiple sites and providing operational oversight.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach with the ability to remain composed under pressure.
