Job Title : Disability Learning Support Team Leader

Contract Type : Temporary Currently until Mid December with a high potential of being extended

Hourly Rate : £29

Our client, a prestigious university, is seeking a Disability Learning Support Team Leader to join their Student Support and Residential Life service cluster. This role is responsible for the development and delivery of the Disability Learning Support Service, ensuring equal access to education for disabled and/or specific learning difficulties students.

Reporting to the Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Manager, the Disability Learning Support Team Leader will line manage a team of Advisers and a Senior Disability Administrator. The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, develop and motivate colleagues, and lead a team through change and implementing new systems and processes. It is essential that they share and exemplify the university\’s values and have a strong work ethic.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Line management of the Disability Advisers and Senior Disability Learning Support Administrator.
  • Providing guidance on complex cases and maintaining high standards of service delivery.
  • Managing a caseload of specialist and escalated student support work.
  • Acting as an expert in disability support, ensuring equal access for all students.
  • Contributing to the review and monitoring of the service and implementing improvements.
  • Managing external student support workers and liaising with NMH agencies.
  • Collaborating with internal departments to ensure assistive technology meets students\’ needs.
  • Assisting with resource planning and expenditure forecasting.
  • Deputising for the Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Manager as required.
  • Developing disability-related training and information provision.
  • Requirements :

  • Postgraduate degree (or equivalent) or relevant practical experience.
  • Significant experience in assessing support requirements and making recommendations for reasonable adjustments.
  • Experience supporting students in a higher education institution.
  • Experience managing a team or colleagues.
  • Excellent knowledge of disability legislation and policy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
