Overview
Job Title: Data Governance Manager
Location: Crewe, 2 days onsite per week
Remuneration: Daily rate up to £325
Contract Details: 6 month contract
Are you a data governance enthusiast ready to take charge? Our client is on the lookout for a proactive Data Governance Manager to lead and embed essential data governance practices across the organization. This is a pivotal role that ensures data is accurate, secure, and used responsibly while acting as a vital link between technical teams and business stakeholders. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
- Lead data stewardship initiatives to guarantee data quality, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across business units to identify data needs, challenges, and opportunities.
- Define and facilitate data governance and quality forums, working groups, and steering committees.
- Monitor and report on data governance metrics, risks, and issues to senior leadership.
- Champion data literacy and promote a culture of responsible data use organization-wide.
- Support the development of an AI Governance framework.
- Assist in data classification, master data management, metadata management, and data lineage efforts alongside data architects and analysts.
Key Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience in data governance or data management roles.
- Strong understanding of data quality, metadata, master data, and data lifecycle management.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex data concepts for business audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives.
- Experience in facilitating cross-functional collaboration and achieving consensus.
- Familiarity with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, EU Data Act).
- Proficiency in data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation).
Desirable:
- Certification in Data Governance or Data Management (e.g., DAMA, DCAM).
- Experience in change management and organizational transformation.
- Background in data analytics, business intelligence, or IT.
