Adecco are currently recruiting for three experienced Homelessness Intervention & Prevention Project Officers to support a busy Housing service within a London Local Authority. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced homelessness professionals with strong working knowledge of Housing Act duties, including S188 and S193, and proven experience discharging duty. You will play a key role in improving case management processes, resolving complex cases, and ensuring accurate data migration within housing systems.

Public Sector - Local Authority

  • Full Time - Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week
  • Hybrid Working - 2 days per week in office / site visits, remainder remote
  • Grade 9 - £22.41 per hour PAYE / £29.72 per hour Umbrella
  • Contract Type - Temp to Fixed-Term Contract after 12 weeks. The FTC is set to last until March 2027.

Please note: once the FTC commences, payment will be PAYE only, as Umbrella rates do not apply to council employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on migration of Housing Advice cases from SharePoint into NEC systems, ensuring accuracy and data integrity
  • Manage and resolve cases where housing duties have been accepted, discharged, or require correction
  • Update and correct application outcomes and termination reasons within housing systems
  • Take ownership of discharging duty cases, including applicants transitioning into permanent accommodation
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date household records, closing cases where appropriate
  • Assess occupancy status (occupied, vacant, abandoned) and take appropriate enforcement action
  • Issue notices where individuals are no longer eligible to remain in temporary accommodation
  • Investigate and manage cases where tenants vacate without notice, including fund recovery actions
  • Carry out home visits, property inspections, and residency checks

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong experience in homelessness prevention and housing advice services
  • Proven ability to discharge duty in line with Housing Act legislation
  • In-depth working knowledge of S188 (interim duty) and S193 (main duty)
  • Experience using housing systems such as NEC (Northgate) or similar
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads and resolve legacy case issues
  • Confident in conducting site visits and inspections
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly with data accuracy and case recording

Additional Information

This role will initially be temporary for 12 weeks, with the opportunity to transition to a fixed-term contract until March 2027. Please note: once transitioned to the fixed-term contract, payment will be PAYE only. These vacancies are subject to a Basic level DBS check.
