Croydon Council is seeking reliable and hard-working Cleansing Operatives to join our Streets and Environment - Environmental Enforcement team on a temporary basis. You will play a key role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of parks, open spaces, and public areas across the borough. This is a hands-on, outdoor role that contributes directly to improving the local environment for residents and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out cleansing duties across parks and open spaces
  • Litter picking and maintaining clean public areas
  • Emptying litter bins and dog waste bins
  • Removal of fly-tipped waste, including household items and furniture
  • Supporting general environmental maintenance tasks across the borough
  • Driving a council vehicle (up to 3.5 tonnes) as part of daily operations

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • Ability to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes
  • Willingness to undertake and pass a Council driving assessment
  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential

Working Location

Daily start and finish at the Grounds Maintenance Depot, Conduit Lane (CR0 5RQ). Work carried out across Croydon Borough.
