Role
Requirements:
1. Detailed knowledge of building technology and construction including identifying defects and repair solutions.
2. Highly developed skills in the preparation of drawings, schedule of works and specifications as required at the various stages of the project including documents for quotation and tendering purposes.
3. Heightened Ability to think creatively to resolve complex design and property related problems.
4. Detailed Knowledge of the procurement process.
5. Detailed Knowledge of the various building contracts available and their appropriate use.
6. Detailed Knowledge of the requirements to meet Planning, Building Regulations, Development Control, Health and Safety & Party Wall Act.
7. Detailed Knowledge of the requirements to meet the CDM regulations and the role of Designer and Principal Designer.
8. IT literate with knowledge of the operation of Microsoft Office and CAD applications.
9. Knowledge in the use of Sketchup or similar 3D applications.
10. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise own workload.
11. Ability to work as part of an internal team and maintain a high level of self motivation.
12. High level ability to communicate effectively – orally, graphically and in writing. Understanding of and some ability to prepare written reports and feasibility studies.
13. High level Ability to work, collect and analyse information under high pressure. And working to deadlines.
14. High level project management skills
15. Good knowledge on contract administration requirements and the issuing of appropriate certificates and instructions.
16. Good Understanding of the requirements relating to the procurement through the OJEU process.
17.Completed, accredited degree and post graduate degree in Building Surveying + 1 year experience and completion of professional interview.
Desired Experience:
1. Experience of working in either Architectural or Surveying Office for 5-6 years.
2. Experience in carrying out condition and dilapidation surveys and preparing reports on findings.
3. Experienced in the use of NBS Specifications. (scheduler and create)
4. Experience in Liaising directly with and coordination of Contractors and Consultants, project sponsor and external organisations and other members of the project team. Commissioning and monitoring and review.
5. Experience in undertaking Contract Administration duties.
6. Dealing with Contractors and consultants. Working within a project team to achieve quality and performance criteria.
7. Dealing with Contractor\’s, consultants, all members of the project team and the public.
8. High level of experience in producing drawings and specifications to the quality required for all stages of a project including construction details.
9. Experience in the use of Autocad for the production of design and detailed drawings, from the feasibility stages through to completion and production of as built drawings.
10. Experience in Sketchup and or similar 3D drawing package.
11. Experience in making and submitting building regulations applications.
12. Experience in the production of specifications using standard recognised techniques. (for example NBS)
1. Commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
2. Flexible approach to working and the ability to work outside of normal working hours when required.
3. Ability to attend Committee, public and other meetings.
4. Valid full driving license and insurance for business use if driving own car.
