The Opportunity: We're partnering with a leading engineering solutions provider operating within critical airport infrastructure, and they are looking to appoint an experienced Engineering Supervisor - Installations. This is a hands-on, leadership-focused field role, ideal for someone who enjoys being on site, leading teams, and delivering complex installations from start to finish. You'll take ownership of Passenger Boarding Bridge (PBB) installations across UK airports, acting as the technical and supervisory lead through installation, commissioning, and final client handover.
- Candidate Eligibility (Non-Negotiable):
Due to the nature of the role and airport security requirements, candidates must meet all of the following:
- Right to Work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
- Able to obtain an airside security pass
- 5 years of continuous UK employment history (or verifiable references)
- Able to pass a DBS check with a clear criminal record
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Key Responsibilities:
On-Site Leadership & Installation:
- Lead and coordinate mechanical, electrical, and electronic installation of Passenger Boarding Bridges
- Supervise internal engineers, contractors, and liaise with airport authorities
- Manage site resources, tools, and materials; proactively flag shortages
- Oversee testing, calibration, and commissioning activities
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues during installation or post-handover support
- Ensure all works meet company standards, airport regulations, and H&S requirements
- Manage and document incidents, damages, and non-conformities
- Drive continuous improvement by feeding field experience back into engineering and process teams
- Reporting:
Provide daily site reports to the Project Manager. Record installation issues and technical non-conformities (e.g. assembly deviations).
- Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
Essential:
- Higher Vocational Qualification in a relevant technical discipline
- Proven experience working with Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBBs)
- Strong understanding of PBB systems, configurations, and operational principles
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar supervisory or field engineering role
- Background in capital goods manufacturing or complex mechanical/electrical installations
Desirable (Not Essential):
- IPAF MEWP Licence
- SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme)
- Valid CSCS Card
- Soft Skills & Competencies:
Confident team leader with strong communication skills. Solutions-focused with the ability to work under pressure. Highly organised with excellent attention to detail. Adaptable, flexible, and comfortable with extensive travel. Strong safety mindset and pride in quality workmanship.
