My client is one of the largest financial institutions headquartered in Japan, with an established presence across all consumer and corporate banking businesses. Through its subsidiaries and affiliates, they offer a diverse range of financial services, including commercial banking, leasing, securities, credit card, consumer finance and other services.

They are looking for an EU Oversight and Controls VP on an initial 12-month contract with the potential to extend. You will be expected to work Monday to Friday standard office hours, however there will need to be flexibility to work outside of these hours as required. The position is hybrid working being in the office 2-3 days a week with the remainder of time working from home.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Mapping of regulation and change events to the relevant SMEs and Stakeholders across the Bank
  • Ensuring the successful and sustainable implementation of new and existing regulatory requirements

For you to succeed in the role, you'll need to have:

  • Experience assessing and implementing regulatory change in the EU (both conduct and financial crime regulations)
  • Succinct analysis and presentation skills
  • Strong senior stakeholder management skills

About this role:

As part of the organisations compliance transformation program they are implementing end-to-end mapping and traceability across their regulatory obligations. This role will lead on the identification, assessment and mapping of both new and current regulatory change. Stakeholders will include EMEA senior management, colleagues across the first line and other control and support functions.

This role will enable you to:

  • Assess, analyse and implement existing regulatory requirements and future regulatory change
  • Develop and manage a robust compliance framework
  • Deliver complex cross-jurisdictional and cross functional regulatory obligations supporting a growing business

What will you bring to the role?

  • Fluent experience with EU and nationally transposed regulation, with German regulation preferred - MaComp, MaRisk, KwG etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of MiFiD
  • Experience of working a similar role in a banking environment.
  • Experience of assessing and implementing regulatory change, or working within compliance risk management, framework or advisory roles.
  • German speaking would be preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and presentation skills
  • Ability to deliver tasks, projects, and assignments within deadlines and to the desired standards
  • Project based experience within an area of regulatory compliance
