Workshop Team Leader Preston Full Time, Permanent We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Workshop Team Leader to join our growing precision engineering business. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineering professional to lead a skilled workshop team, ensuring components are manufactured safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. Reporting to the General Manager, you will play a key role in coordinating daily workshop activities, supporting production targets and driving continuous improvement across the machine shop. Machining background Lead, motivate and support a team of Machinists, Fitters and Workshop Operatives. Plan and coordinate daily production activities to ensure customer deadlines are achieved. Monitor workflow and allocate resources effectively Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the workshop. Ensure all products meet required quality standards and customer specifications. Support machine set-up, troubleshooting and problem-solving when required. Liaise with management, quality and production teams to prioritise workloads. Conduct toolbox talks, training and mentoring for workshop staff. Assist with performance management, attendance monitoring and employee development. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality and efficiency. Ensure workshop housekeeping and 5S standards are maintained. Skills & Experience Required Previous experience in a Team Leader, Supervisor or Senior CNC Machinist position. Strong background within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment. Good understanding of CNC machining processes, engineering drawings and tolerances. Knowledge of quality systems and inspection processes. Strong organisational and planning skills. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
