Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Catering Assistant to provide support during holiday cover at a busy site in Dundee. The role involves preparing and serving food, managing cash and card payments, and ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the dining and kitchen areas. As part of a two-person team, this role requires a proactive individual who can work efficiently in a busy environment with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation: Prepare sandwich fillings, sandwiches, and rolls.
  • Front Service Counter: Set up the front counter for breakfast and lunch service.
  • Customer Service: Serve customers, handle cash and card payments, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Dish-washing and Cleaning: Collect dirty crockery and cutlery, operate the dishwasher, and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Stocking: Refill the chiller units, vending machines, and merchandisers with food and beverages.
  • General Duties: Ensure a clean and safe working environment at all times.
  • Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Catering Experience: Proven experience in a fast-paced catering role, preferably in food service or hospitality.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with customers and team members effectively.
  • Cash Handling: Experience with cash and card payment systems.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage tasks efficiently and meet the demands of a busy service.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensure the quality and presentation of food and service meet high standards.
  • Additional Requirements:

  • Local Knowledge: It is advantageous if the candidate lives locally due to the early start times.
  • Transport: Having personal transport is beneficial given the shift hours.
  • Uniform:

    Black smart trousers (no jeans, joggers, or leggings)
    Plain black t-shirt, blouse, or shirt
    Closed black flat shoes
    Hair tied back and minimal jewellery (sleeper earrings and wedding band)
