Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will be required to work on-site 5 days per week.
The Opportunity:
To work in the Waste Minimisation & Sustainability team providing administrative support and to act as a point of contact for stakeholders offering advice and assistance whilst always providing a professional and courteous service. The postholder will also support the planning, coordination and delivery of public engagement activities and initiatives designed to educate and support residents in reducing waste, increasing recycling and promoting sustainable environmental behaviours.
Role Accountabilities:
- Provide administrative support to the Waste Minimisation Team, including telephone, E-Mail, minute taking, typing, and filing, managing enquiries, maintaining records, organising events, and assisting with the monitoring and reporting of project outcomes.
- Be responsible for collating and understanding data and present to Management in a suitable style.
- Respond to all customers in a prompt, efficient and courteous manner, ensuring that queries are responded to in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain various departmental information systems, e.g. databases, spreadsheets, ensuring that up-to-date information is recorded and retrieved.
- Support the planning, coordination and delivery of resident engagement activities, campaigns and events that promote waste reduction, recycling and sustainability.
- Assist in the development and distribution of educational materials, communications and promotional content to support waste minimisation initiatives and behaviour change campaigns.
- Engage positively with residents, community groups, schools and other stakeholders, providing information and guidance relating to waste and recycling services.
- Collate feedback from residents and stakeholders and assist in evaluating the effectiveness of engagement activities and initiatives.
- Support the promotion of Council environmental objectives through participation in campaigns, projects and community outreach activities.
- Provide support to any other tasks as required by your Line Manager.
The Experience You Will Bring:
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Experience of working in a busy office environment.
- Able to multitask and work on different tasks at the same time.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office products & CRM systems.
- Experience of providing customer service and dealing with enquiries from members of the public.
- Experience of supporting events, community engagement activities or communications campaigns (desirable).
- Interest in environmental sustainability, recycling or waste reduction initiatives (desirable).
- Local government experience (Desirable).
