Job Purpose
To support the safe, reliable and efficient day-to-day operation of the terminal by undertaking Control Room and Plant Operator duties. The role involves operating the Permit to Work system, preparing plant isolations, carrying out routine operational activities and supporting project work to maximise plant availability and ensure safe operations. This is an operational role focused on business-as-usual plant operations rather than maintenance.
About You
You'll have experience working within a safety-critical operational environment and be confident working with industrial plant and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the safe operation of the terminal and associated plant.
- Operate the Permit to Work and Safe System of Work processes.
- Prepare and apply plant isolations for planned works.
- Carry out routine plant inspections and operational checks.
- Monitor plant performance and report operational defects.
- Support the control of gas flow, gas quality and process equipment.
- Prepare plant for maintenance and project activities, including atmospheric testing.
- Maintain accurate operational records and documentation.
- Support emergency response activities when required.
- Promote a strong safety culture and compliance with company procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Operational experience within a hazardous or process industry.
- Strong understanding of safe systems of work.
- Practical, hands-on approach with good technical awareness.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an engineering or operational discipline, or relevant industry experience.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Permit to Work experience.
- Control Room operations.
- Plant isolation experience.
- Safe Control of Operations (SCO) authorisations.
- COMAH site experience.
Working Pattern
Day work position based at St Fergus. Overtime opportunities available. Candidates should ideally live within a reasonable commuting distance of site.
