Job Type: Full-time, temporary for 4 weeks (potential for long term and permanent employment)

Working Hours: 36.25 hours per week, Monday - Friday 7am - 3pm shift (this can be slightly flexible)

Looking for a hands-on role with immediate start opportunities? We're currently recruiting for a Kitchen Porter to join a busy and welcoming catering team in St Andrews. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and wants to be part of a supportive team. Starting as a temporary 4-week assignment, there is strong potential for the right candidate to secure longer-term or permanent employment. No two days are the same in this role. You'll be at the heart of the kitchen operation, helping ensure everything runs smoothly, safely and efficiently behind the scenes.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Washing dishes, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment
  • Maintaining excellent cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen
  • Cleaning food preparation areas, work surfaces, floors, walls, fridges and freezers
  • Operating commercial dishwashing and cleaning equipment
  • Assisting with deliveries, stock rotation and storage
  • Removing waste and recycling in line with procedures
  • Reporting maintenance and health and safety issues
  • Supporting the wider catering team when required
  • Following food safety, COSHH and health and safety regulations at all times

  • Committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Previous Kitchen Porter, catering or hospitality experience
  • A Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Knowledge of COSHH and safe use of cleaning products
  • Experience working in commercial kitchens, schools, healthcare, hospitality or large-scale catering environments

Please Note

This is a physically active role and will involve:

  • Standing for extended periods
  • Manual handling tasks
  • Lifting and moving stock, equipment and waste safely
  • Working efficiently within a fast-paced kitchen environment
