We are currently recruiting for a long-term General Operative to join a busy and well-established manufacturing environment. About the Role
As a General Operative, you will play an important role in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented facility. You'll work closely with the onsite team to support day-to-day housekeeping, minor maintenance tasks, and general operational duties. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being active, takes pride in their work, and is comfortable using basic tools and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Painting & Facility Upkeep
- Painting floors, line markings, and general touch-ups around the site
- Carrying out light painting tasks on walls, railings, or designated areas
- Preparing surfaces prior to painting (sweeping, cleaning, basic sanding)
- Previous painting experience is preferred but not essential - full instruction and guidance will be provided.
- General Housekeeping
- Maintaining cleanliness across the shop floor
- Operating floor-cleaning machinery (training provided)
- Regular emptying of bins and waste disposal
- Keeping walkways, work areas, and communal spaces tidy
- Basic Maintenance & Odd Jobs
- Assisting with small repairs and general upkeep
- Supporting the team with ad-hoc tasks as required
- Reporting any maintenance issues promptly
- Using hand tools where needed (e.g., screwdrivers, brushes, basic fixings)
What We're Looking For
- Good physical fitness - the job is active and involves manual tasks
- Previous experience in painting, facilities, labouring, or general maintenance (desired but not essential)
- A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to help across different areas
