We are seeking an experienced Network Infrastructure Engineering Specialist to join our clients growing IT team. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining and developing network and infrastructure systems across multiple sites. You'll play a key role in ensuring business-critical systems remain secure, reliable, and high-performing while providing expert support and technical guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure and maintain network connectivity including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, VPN and Wi-Fi environments.
  • Configure, monitor and support network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, servers and business applications.
  • Administer VMware virtual environments alongside Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud services.
  • Monitor network performance, diagnose issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Maintain network security through patch management, firmware updates and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Manage backup and disaster recovery processes to minimise downtime.
  • Support and deliver IT infrastructure projects from design through to implementation.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex technical support issues and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation including network diagrams, configurations and procedures.
  • Follow change management processes and IT best practices.
  • Travel to multiple sites as required.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Participate in a limited on-call rota (Saturday mornings) and occasional out-of-hours maintenance activities.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a similar Network Infrastructure or Systems role.
  • Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, VPNs and Wi-Fi technologies.
  • Experience configuring and securing switches, routers and firewalls.
  • VMware virtualisation experience.
  • Microsoft 365 and Azure administration experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
  • Network monitoring and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience using IT service management and ticketing tools.
  • Sound understanding of IT security and cybersecurity principles.
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Skills

  • Relevant IT degree, certification or professional qualification.
  • Cisco certification (CCNA or equivalent).
  • Experience with SD-WAN technologies.
  • Linux administration experience.
  • Knowledge of Power Automate, Power BI and SharePoint.
  • Scripting experience (PowerShell, Visual Basic or similar).
  • Experience carrying out physical installations including cabling and equipment mounting.
  • Interest in researching and implementing new technologies and solutions.
