About the Role: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Civil Estimator to join our team in Glasgow. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in preparing accurate cost estimates for a variety of civil engineering projects, ensuring that all estimates are competitive and align with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse blueprints, specifications, and project plans to understand the scope of work.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and develop cost estimates for materials, labour, and equipment.
- Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
- Review and evaluate quotes for specification compliance and select for bid inclusion.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Conduct site visits to gather necessary data and assess project conditions.
- Prepare and present cost estimates to clients and project stakeholders.
- Monitor and update estimates as project scopes change.
- Maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Support bid strategies and tender presentations.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in civil estimating within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.
