Location: Longbenton, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE12 9BZ
Rate: £13.30 - £14.44 ph
Contract: Temporary Assignment
Start Date: 5 October 2026
End Date: 30 June 2027
Hours: Full-time - 40 hours
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Assistant to join a leading scientific team based at the clients Centre in Longbenton. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a keen interest in laboratory work, science, chemistry, or product testing to gain hands-on experience within a fast-paced research and development environment.
Working as part of the laboratory team, you will provide essential support in the preparation, testing, and analysis of products and formulations while ensuring high standards of laboratory practice and safety are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Weighing products and preparing solutions for testing
- Preparing formulations and products for laboratory and consumer testing
- Conducting physical and chemical analysis of formulations and finished products
- Performing performance tests using established laboratory methods and procedures
- Recording, analysing, and communicating results using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Operating laboratory equipment and computer-controlled testing systems
- Supporting laboratory housekeeping activities and ensuring compliance with operating procedures
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation of test results
- Working safely with chemicals and laboratory materials, including enzymes where required
About You
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- A strong interest in laboratory, scientific, or technical work
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures accurately
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Previous laboratory experience is desirable but not essential
- A science-related qualification would be advantageous
