Payroll & Benefits Specialist (Contract)
London (2 days office / 3 days remote) £450 per day (Umbrella- Inside IR35) 9-Month Contract Start ASAP
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the relationship with the outsourced payroll bureau
- Act as the intermediary between the business and payroll provider, ensuring all payroll changes are communicated and implemented correctly
- Validate payroll outputs and take ownership of payroll accuracy
- Administer pension processes, including monthly submissions to AON/Big Blue Touch and reconciliation of deductions
- Prepare month-end payroll journals and financial reporting
- Support annual audit activities
- Liaise with HMRC regarding tax matters and payroll-related queries
- Monitor PAYE and NIC payments and associated compliance
- Resolve employee payroll enquiries and issues
- Support ongoing process improvements within payroll and benefits operations
About You
- Significant end-to-end payroll experience within a medium-sized organisation
- Strong payroll governance, controls and compliance knowledge
- Experience managing outsourced payroll arrangements
- Hands-on experience with IRIS Cascade
- Pension administration experience, ideally involving AON / Big Blue Touch
- Confident handling payroll reconciliations, financial reporting and month-end journals
- Strong understanding of PAYE, NIC and HMRC processes
- Able to operate independently and take ownership of payroll output quality
